Frequently Asked Questions

Consistency is key when it comes to seeing results in physical therapy. While attending sessions with your therapist is crucial, it’s equally important to follow through with prescribed exercises on a regular basis. Your therapist will tailor these exercises specifically to your needs and goals, so committing to them diligently will greatly contribute to your success. Incorporating these exercises into your daily routine outside of therapy sessions helps reinforce the progress made during your sessions and promotes lasting improvements in your condition. So, while it may not require hours of exercise every day, dedicating regular time to your prescribed exercises is essential for achieving optimal results and maximizing the benefits of your therapy sessions.
The short answer is yes, with some caveats. If you’re simply just trying to stretch out before a sporting event or activity, then holding a stretch for about 15 to 20 seconds each is sufficient. But if your goal is to try and improve the flexibility of your muscle, not be so stiff, and improve the length of it, then research has shown that holding stretch for 30 seconds or more is necessary. Stretching frequently every day and every week for a couple months will actually improve that flexibility in life over the long term.

The frequency of physical therapy sessions varies depending on the individual needs of each client. While some clients may benefit from more frequent sessions, others may require fewer visits. Your physical therapist will assess your condition, consider your treatment goals, and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

Factors such as the severity of your condition, your rate of progress, and your availability for appointments will also influence the frequency of your visits. Additionally, your therapist will continuously monitor your progress and adjust the frequency of sessions as needed to ensure you are receiving the appropriate level of care.
